How are you spending your holiday during this strange season of social distancing?
We went to a barrel race last night. Outdoor activities are a good option right now. Rodeos are the original American sport, celebrating our unique western heritage.
Rodeo is also a great sport for homeschoolers. There are no restrictions for rodeo participants. The National High School Rodeo Association simply requires proof of enrollment and a report card.
Almost 1/3 of the participants in our state high school rodeo are homeschoolers.

It’s a great way to allow these rodeo students to have the time they need to spend practicing and caring for their livestock.
4-H is another great organization for homeschoolers. You can have a homeschool 4-H club or simply be a “member-at-large” which means you can participate in all activities without being in a local club.
4-H provides cooking activities, sewing, livestock, photography, fishing, shooting sports (including archery), gardening, pet shows, horse clubs, and most anything else a volunteer leader wants to head up. They have great educational books that go with each project.
I pray that you take a moment today to celebrate this great nation and be thankful that we live in the only truly free nation in the world.
Happy 4th of July!
