We are exactly half way to Christmas Eve. The tension is building. Jesus is feeling the urgency to spread His kingdom as his time waking in the flesh on earth is nearing an end.
“I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed!”
Luke 12:49-50 NIV

I can’t imagine the urgency and strain Jesus was feeling.
“Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.”
Luke 12:22-23 NIV
His attitude and attention are turning from the earthly to the heavenly. He’s causing more and more chaos and confusion among the reigning leaders in the government and the church.
“Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
Luke 12:15 NIV
How much do we covet possessions in this day and age? People kill over shoes. Parents spend more time working than bonding with their children so they can provide the “luxuries” in life. The elderly are put into “the best homes” rather than being cared for by their family.
Everyone is so busy getting “things” that they forget to have the relationships. That’s what’s important to our Father.

We are living in times of greed and jealousy and Pinterest, when the most important thing is to sit together and love one another.
Remember this?
“She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.””
Luke 10:39, 41-42 NIV
Remember to choose the spiritual best rather than the best of the flesh.
