Happy New Year 2023!

Word for the New Year?

OR

New Year’s Resolution?

I tend to do both.

I made 336 days in Duolingo for 2022 but didn’t do as well in my year-long Bible reading.

I am in scripture daily, but it’s so often to look up things or search for answers that it’s hard for me to do the yearly reading through the Bible.

With my veterinary mission trip to Honduras canceled due to flight problems, along with other things, I feel like the word God has given me for 2023 is

QUIET.

I have a dear friend that is so quiet in her relationship with her husband.

She is not a pushover, she simply doesn’t argue about the small stuff.

She has no need to be right or do more.

She is a beautiful, strong Christian soul who is powerful in her positive response with no need to be right.

She is confident in who she is in Christ with no need to prove anything to anyone.

It’s what I pray for in my own life.

I need to slow down and listen more, read more, and write more.

Those things can only happen with a quiet spirit.

I don’t mean backing down when something needs to be done.

I do mean not arguing just to prove my point.

I do mean stopping something unnecessary to focus on my husband and children and those people God puts in my path.

I do mean more quiet time to reflect and pray.

I do mean slowing down and being present in the moment rather than rushing ahead to the next thing on the list.

My mission field is first and foremost in my own home, in my own church, in my own community, and in my own work life. I need to focus on what is in front of me rather than looking for something else to do.

“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.”

Isaiah 30:15

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭14:14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭13:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

May your New Year be blessed and prosperous!!
