Feb 5, 2020 – Celebrations

We’ve been celebrating a birthday in our house for the last few days.

I know people have differing opinions about celebrating birthdays. A lot of the ideas we have about birthdays come from our own experiences in childhood.

If you’ve had a bad experience with people fighting at parties or no one showing up, you probably don’t see birthdays in a positive light.

On the other hand, if you had wonderful parties with lots of joy and loving guests, you probably love birthdays.

We even try to celebrate our dogs’ birthdays if the kiddos want to.

We make dog special cake with applesauce and peanut butter.

In Genesis, a birthday celebration is what got Pharaoh’s chief cup-bearer restored to his position in the royal house and set the stage to get Joseph out of prison.

“Pharaoh’s birthday came three days later, and he prepared a banquet for all his officials and staff. He summoned his chief cup-bearer and chief baker to join the other officials.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭40:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We have a birthday tradition in our family. We go around the dinner table and tell the birthday person one thing that we love about them or something they do to make our lives happier.

It makes everyone consider the joy in daily life.

So celebrate the birthdays in your life. The alternative is death.

Here’s a book recommendation for you adults.

It’s definitely full of adult content, but it’s beautifully written, historical, and unique.

It’s about WWI with a little WWII mixed in. Set in Europe, with female spies as the central theme.

Have a great week!
